KYRIE DUFFLE BAG

this bag was made for nike basketball and used in the creative launch 2020.  during the time I was  working as a color separator at nike I was approached by 2 colleagues who were  creating a custom Kyrie Irving bomber jacket and asked if I could build a duffel bag to match.  at this  point I had very little experience sewing but was known for making small mini duffel bags that I would sell at pop-up's.  I was given a hide of leather, portion of the blanket material used on Kyrie's shoe upper, a couple yards of silk and zippers for the project.  After the initial briefing I was off doing something that I had never done before, working with materials I had never used before.  the top portion of the bag is the blanket material used to make the upper of a shoe, the bottom, handles and straps are leather, the interior of the bag is quilted and embroidered silk with the Kyrie irving logo.  this bag is a custom 1 of a kind that I created from the ground up including the pattern, sewing and construction.  this project was in addition to the full time color separations job I held at nike.

 With this project I was able to explore natural dye techniques as well as explore different types of natural and synthetic fabrics options.
